Liminal Material Culture

Over the years, I have documented the wastelands of Kyläsaari and Verkkosaari. These areas have been in an intriguing transitional state for years since the Sörnäinen harbor moved to Vuosaari. The landscapes change constantly, new, more official and unofficial structures appear and disappear. The seemingly empty "wastelands" are filled with life. In my photographs, I have captured the traces left by people in the landscape. For the exhibition context, I have also collected various "pseudo-archaeological" objects from the area. What remains of the history of this irregular, wild phase of the area?
Liminal Material Culture has been featured in S'lim magazine in 2016, in a solo exhibition at Kosminen gallery in 2018, and in a group exhibition at Klaipeda Culture Communication Centre in 2023.
Alongside the exhibition at Kosminen gallery, an essay discussing the area and wastelands in general was also published.
